Safe and less safe route to Kom Vasojevićki

Safe and less safe route to Kom Vasojevićki

Important information for those who aren't familiar with this mountain and would like to attempt climbing it on the marked route! There is a badly marked section in the route starting from Štavna. The marks indicate ascending on the green ridge (yellow dots on the image), do NOT follow this route, unless you're well-equipped and skilled because it leads into a very unstable rocky "labyrinth" with plenty of large loose rocks ready to be falling. According to a written source, this route is used by local climbers as a shortcut to the normal route, which traverses the N scree area and ascends to the peak via mostly grassy surface (red line, dots indicate walking on the other sie of the mountain) with no hazards in good weather. The trail of the normal route is not marked at the bifurcation point (as opposed to the more hazardous one, which is clearly indicated), but you can find it tracking back the easy-to-notice route on the scree field. Re: For children?

Yes, if you follow the normal route (also ceck out this image), it is only a 'walk-up' mountain.

Also note that my visit was 3 years ago, since then the bifurcation may be well signposted. In any case, watch out for the correct path.

Peter
