Racking Up for El Cap -1980 [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Racking Up for El Cap -1980
Big Wall climbing, 1980 style. Young Chu and I select our gear for a climb of El Capitan (Triple Direct) in the Camp 4 parking lot. Check out the climber's station wagon (left) and the Volkswagons. Cam devices (Friends) were new, most climbers didn't have very many. Chocks and pitons were still the standard for big wall climbing in 1980, even for routes like the Triple Direct.
