It's a long haul from Harvard (background) to Columbia (foreground) even in good weather, which this wasn't! July 1998.

I wished I had done the ridge rather than dropping way down below and having to hike that far back up. The scree down from Columbia wasn't fun either.

Yes, I haven't tried the ridge either. It saves about 400 vertical feet but it looks like a much more difficult hike that way. You didn't like the scree going down from Columbia? That was the best part... :-)
