Rob leading P5 of the W face of the Leaning Tower [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Rob leading P5 of the W face of the Leaning Tower
This was a difficult lead, & anyone who's cleaned a traversing aid pitch might be able to visualize what a nightmare this was to clean as well... Note fashion-conscious head apparel. August '8

What is Rob wearing? (Or is it you??) Yes, cleaning traversing aid pitches is a nightmare. Sometimes -- for example, when the traverse actually goes down for a while -- it can get really interesting!

A downward-sloping traverse?? Sounds 'interesting!' Don't know how anxious I am to sample that! Rob was wearing a Gilligan-style hat to protect his skin :)

Yeah, check out this photo: http://www.summitpost.org/images/medium/301003.JPG
It's not easy to see but I actually had to lower myself out on the first few placements -- several of which were hook moves -- in order to clean this dang pitch. It was basically like down-leading except that I had a rope from above...

Sounds spicy! At least you had a rope above, I guess! I have yet to lead on hooks.
