Just south of Camp Verde at the geographical center of Arizona, Squaw Peak
holds a special place for man-made and natural objects alike.

A notorious spot for microwave/TV towers, here we see what makes the
mountain's summit area so special.

These two twisted & windblown Alligator Junipers have lived and toiled a
very long LIFE, high above the Verde Valley to the east and the Prescott
Valley to the west. The range of mountains where 6,700 ft Squaw Peak looms is
known simply as The Black Hills of central Arizona.

Yes, those are Palmer agaves hiding out below the junipers.

(This prominent peak rising above AZ's Verde Valley should not be confused
with what was formerly called Squaw Peak in the "Valley of the Sun" to the
south, or the Squaw Peak of the Wasatch Range of northern Utah to the north.)
