Aaron Johnson and Ellen Ritt ascend the snow covered slopes of North Maroon Peak in a failed attempt during 2005. North Maroon is considered one of Colorado's more challenging fourteeners, even though ironically, the mountain is not even ranked. This shot is just below the crux move, which was coated in ice. The mountain is highly regarded among Colorado's climbers and is considered an "honorary fourteener." Ellen successfully climbed the mountain with Aaron in August of 2006 on a cloudy day.
