silhouetted ruby throat [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
silhouetted ruby throat
Capturing a hummer in flight is best attempted near a feeding point of interest, just as the little fella hovers. Pre-focusing(guessing) is sometimes the only way to get the bird sharp enough for a usable image. This evening I had a great thunderstorm cloud for my background.

Thanks so much for your expressions of appreciation for the image. I took quite a few just to get one in focus, hoping the sunset light on the wonderful thunderhead would stick around. regards slowbutsteady

How does this beautifully timed shot not have more 10 votes? Love the birdie silhouette with the orange clouds!

I wondered the same thing -- it's ranked pretty high on the "last three days" page so I guess site traffic (or voters) are just low right now for some reason.

What a great shot!
