Voted 10/10 | Not enough info in the picture for me to be sure, but one of SP's experts might ID this for you if you attach it to the unidentified flora page.
It looks as if there were probably five calyx lobes in a star pattern on the berry--so blueberry or a relative would be likely (all edible). It's too blue for serviceberry, but the leaf is similar.
The poisonous buckthorn can look similar but doesn't have the lobes. | | Posted Dec 6, 2008 8:21 am |

Hasn't voted | That is a good idea attaching the picture to the unidentified flora page. I thought the berry might be a serviceberry, but did not want to incorrectly label the berry as such. Keep in mind I highlighted the blue. I'm no expert with flora, but would love to learn more. Thank you for your vote. | | Posted Dec 6, 2008 7:16 pm |
| Kerstin | Quite sure | |
Hasn't voted | this is Serviceberry, or Amelanchier alnifolia. It grows in the Tahoe Basin too. | | Posted Apr 7, 2009 11:35 pm |
