Gopher Snake [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Gopher Snake
I nearly ran over this Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer) less than a mile from Mt Sunflower, the state highpoint of Kansas. Gopher Snakes are the largest type of snake in Kansas. They feed on rodents of all types, including gophers, squirrels and even rabbits. They are not venomous. Photo taken September 27, 2008.
