Desolate Alcazaba [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Desolate Alcazaba
La Alcazaba (The Castle), is the third highest summit of Spanish Sierra Nevada with 3,371 ms (11,060 fts). This is how it looks, as seen from the south. I took the photo while climbing Mulhacén (the highest, with 3,480 ms) by a route called Loma del Resuello (that means something like "Out of Breath Hill"... Can you imagine why?). The landing between is called Cañada de las Siete Lagunas (Seven Lagoons Basin) and the largest of all them appears in the image. The heat was terrible that day and dust could be chewed... nothing reminded to a Sierra Nevada (Snow-covered Range). September 10, 2005.
