| Unnamed Spires of Oak Creek | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] | |||||||||||
Unnamed spires seen above the "West Fork of Oak Creek Trail," at about 5,400 feet in elevation. "Arizona. It's where people go to retire, right? Not if you're a climber. The geology, a combination of basin and range territory in the south and the Colorado Plateau up north, yields more exposed rock than in any other state. Add an arid to semi-arid climate, and the only thing growing on the cliffs is the number of routes and climbers." Tim Toula (1995) Unfortunately, this spire isn't listed in Tim Toula's book. If you like to look at sandstone from a distance, this is a good place. Please go in Autumn, 'cause that's when the oak and maple are turning! October 23, 2008 Comments [ Post a Comment ]
