Yariga-take [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Yariga-take
Yariga-take (3,180m), one of the most popular mountains in Japanese Alps, from Yarigatake sanso (hut). Think Half Dome but with longer approach and abundance of huts along the way. If you look closely, you will see many climbers scaling the peak, occasionally using installed ladders, chains and other man-made equipment. It felt rather strange coming from "virgin" Sierra. I counted 19 climbers in this photo. From the place I took it, It is roughly 100 vertical meters (~300') to the top.
