Voted 10/10 | Quite hard to find this view on the Net. Once upon a time, I spent a night (my 2nd in Bulgaria) in this nice little shelter; brings out memories - thanks, Kamil, for sharing. And what on earth is the pyramid in the way - another UFO landing?

Hasn't voted | Hej Jacek, dzięki że zajrzałeś. Yeah it looks like UFO but it's the new shelter (I think it's name is Everest 84) while the old one is used as a shed or a store room.
And the view is quite rare cos perhaps not too many people hike the Musala ridge :)

Nice to meet you. I’d read your Prokletije trilogies long before I joined SP. The area was on my agenda for the summer of 1982, but those years (81 and 82) changed my life completely, and I’ve never made it (still keep a little guidebook by a student club as well as a glimmer of hope :-)). As to Bulgaria, yeah, this is the great thing: ridges like this don’t get much attention, and some are fabulous (for those who haven’t seen the Prokletije at least :-) , e.g. the Maljovica area, or Strażite and other parts of the granite Pirin. Another advantage is that there’s enough water, except for the marble part of the Pirin.

Voted 10/10 | From what I read and see on the Web, not much has changed – yet :-) (bar the big UFO, but it's still close to Borovec). As for myself getting derailed in the 80's, between you and me (and those who happen to come across these lines), it wasn't all the generals' fault, that was much more complicated, civilians were involved, at least one woman played a crucial part as well :-(
Anyway, I count on your advice (besides more trip reports and pics) if I'm ready to resume living my Balkan dream
