White Oaks [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
White Oaks
A couple of White Oaks (Quercus Alba) with characteristic shaggy bark against the autumn sky. Timber from this species and live oak were used in the USS Constitution. Commonly called the "stave oak" for its use in cooperage in production of Bourbon Whisky, it has been used for wine but is regarded as being less sympathetic to wine than Quercus Petraea
