Celebration time!

Here is a happy family, grilling steaks for dinner on the summit of San Luis Peak. Aaron (turning the steaks) and I were celebrating climbing our last Colorado 14er. We packed the hibachi grill, charcoal and lighter fluid, steaks, canned pop, and all other picnic essentials to the summit. August 1999.

Yeah, that guy. You've got to cut me some slack. I'm winding down after a climb today.

That is a great idea. Hamburgers on the summit. Yummy.

I tried San Luis last Memorial Day but there was just too much snow. The nasty kind of snow that was impossible to get through without cussing up a storm. Another couple made it further than us but still had to turn around. They were wearing gators and shorts. Just above their gators they were bleeding from the crust that you would break through down to the knees. The next step your knees would scrape along this crust until your next foot broke through again. The lightning didn't help either. First time in May I had that much lightning.

Your Norman Rockwell family pic has just been added to the main page of San Luis Peak. I can almost smell the smoke.
