The Split Gill Fungus (Schizophyllum commune; Polish- Rozszczepka) does not have stems and it attaches itself on the dead wood of deciduous trees. It can be found in forests all year round. Its cap is fan-shaped and white to grayish or tan in color. It is one of the most widespread fungus in existence. It can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Schizophyllum commune is inedible.
