Bulgaria’s Hoodoos [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Bulgaria’s Hoodoos
This minute town of Melnik, at the foot of the Pirin, near the Greek border, apart from the local wine, boasts exemplary badlands scenery, which results from rainfall cutting through the loosely cemented sandstone and conglomerate. Some fine hoodoos, wearing erosion-resistant boulder caps, can be spotted in the vicinity of Rozhen Monastery.

Last but not least, views of "badlands" provide a fantastic illustration of how mountain ridges, towers and valleys are moulded by erosion.

Jacek, I was just wondering how many different
languages you are familiar with. Do you visit
Bulgaria quite often???

I would of never have guessed that these
wonderful hoodoos could be found in Bulgaria.

Couldn't agree more – as hot as AZ in summer (although pale orange rather than red), quite educational and unclimbable! Thanks for taking a look. Hiss hello to your otter for me!
