Makalu, with the West Pillar clearly visible, taken at about 18,000 feet (5,500m) during the approach to 20,000' Sherpani Col, the first of three high passes en route to the Khumbu.
As an attempt to show the scale of this great peak, note the figures from my group on the right skyline ridge, best seen in the full size image.
