German "Wilderness" Sign [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
German "Wilderness" Sign
This sign is here to make a point on a forum, but maybe others will find it useful.

The bottom (barely legible when enlarged) tells you that you're entering a "piece of wild nature," which is actually a manufactured tunnel.

Of course, on top the sign also provides the distance to the nearest hut, which serves food and drinks, with picnic tables and the rest.

Some wilderness.

Compare the US philosophy of wilderness in this sign.

Photo taken at the exit of Hoellentalklamm tunnel, Zugspitze group, August 2008.
