Giant Groundsel
Many of the Dendrosenecio keniensis plants seen here are 30 feet tall. See the people on the trail for perspective. This amazing species is usually found above 9,500 feet. Photographed near Baranco Camp 3 at 13,000 feet on Mount Kilimanjaro, December 8, 2007.

lcarreauAmazing plants ...

Voted 10/10

No wonder Earnest Hemmingway loved this area
so much. Seems like they grow like Saguaro
cactus - sort of "top-heavy!" Awesome photo!

I have heard of the book but I didn't know that Hemmingway actually set foot on the mountain. I guess I should do some more reading. Thanks!
