The first pitch of Old Man's... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The first pitch of Old Man's...
The first pitch of Old Man's Route (5.2) overlaps with several other popular climbs. Old Man's Route (yellow) heads up easy terrain and a series of steps. Steve on lead is nearing the top of the first pitch (the tree immediately above him). Conn's West (5.3, purple) and West Pole (5.7, green) diverge here, ascend a short wall and traverse left on a spacious ledge. Conn's West goes up a corner and flake system while West Pole tackles a more challenging crack line up the face. The west Pole rappel station from the summit is immediately above this. The third pitch of the rappel is from the tree at the base of west pole. (June 1998)
