The Parasol Mushroom (Macrolepiota procera) belongs to the Lepiota family and it is edible. It grows alone or scattered in forests or at the edges of forests, pastures, and on trails.

As far as I can remember, the feature that helps you tell it from some toxic lookalikes is that the annulus (ring) around the stipe is movable. Is that right, Henryk??? We once fried the pileus (cap) of a big one while trekking, and it was absolutely delicious.

Masz racje ! Kania czubajka (Macrolepiota procera) ma pod kapeluszem ruchomy pierscionek. Po nim poznaje kanie, podobny do niej jest bowiem inny grzyb - toksyczny muchomor zielonawy. Sam pierscionek jest gorzki i nie jest jadalny. Pozdrawiam Henryk
