The Canada Geese couple enjoying warm Nevada sun in Henderson Bird Preserve.
Mallard Ducks (also a couple, male and a female) are swimming by in the background.
January 2009.
Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) mate for life. Males and females look very much alike with males being slightly bigger.

Voted 10/10 | The Canadian geese are in our neck of the woods these days as well. Guess they're digging the warm temps in SoCal this year! :) | | Posted Jan 27, 2009 3:01 am |

Hasn't voted | I'm sure they do. I took this picture on a warm day also. Unfortunately I have never seen their young. They must be nesting somewhere else.
Thanks for stopping by. | | Posted Jan 27, 2009 3:06 am |

Hasn't voted | Thank you Alec. I watched them for quite a while. These two hanged out together and I was getting lots of nice but boring shots of just two geese standing around. Finally they started getting loud and even ducks showed up (definitely a couple too) by chance and it all made for a more exciting picture.
