| Ridge Trail Overhang | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
As you follow the Ridge Trail from Weakley Hollow toward the summit, you will pass this overhanging block at about 2.1 miles. Just after it is another overhanging "balanced rock" to the left of the trail, and just beyond that is the narrow corridor with the face that has the Ridge Trail Routes on it.

Hasn't voted | with the balanced rock? That was pretty fun, but not scary. I think it would be upgraded to scary in icy conditions. | | Posted Jan 30, 2009 9:48 am |

Hasn't voted | I don't think so, Mike; I think it's a little bit before the ones I'm talking about, but thanks for asking. I may be out there tomorrow morning and will try to photograph it then, though the sun will be in the wrong position. And it will be very icy! And I plan on off-trail exploring! And I must be crazy! | | Posted Jan 30, 2009 10:40 pm |

Hasn't voted | Mike, this is the rock I mean.
It was very icy, and I slipped several times on the way back down. Once I fell and hit my knee on a rock-- that hurt then and still hurts now. One guy I met was having a hard time getting up the hardest spot, a Class 3 move that I really think is closer to Class 4. I don't know if he was new to scrambling or icy conditions or both, but he was clearly uncomfortable with what he was doing and was ready to quit, to the dismay of his partner. So I climbed down and gave him a boost. That was my good deed of the day and earned me the cold beer I had waiting for me back at the car!
All in all, a very nice day out there.
