The triple spires of Dolina 3 [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The triple spires of Dolina 3
Dolina 3 is another caldron of the Csodavár / Cetăţile Ponorului karst playground complex (see also this photo and this photo).

The triple spires were referred to as 'Tátra-Mátra-Fátra' by Gyula Czárán (1847-1906), the great explorer of Bihar/Bihor Mts. who devoted a lot of his time, energy and great amounts of money to build hiking trails into the wild gorges and other sights of this spectacular area. Although a great deal of his work perished since then, even today tourists use much of what was constructed under his guidance more than a century ago!

And did Czárán work on the Mala Fatra gorges/trails? (I sometimes get the feeling the real world revolves around Budapest:))

No, he devoted all of his life to "Bihar-country". Too bad his biography is not available in English.
