Beauty on Lassen Peak [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Beauty on Lassen Peak
This was the view when we were almost to the top of the Lassen Peak trail. The Lassen Smelowskia flower only grows within Lassen Volcanic National Park and can be seen here.

The rarest note played in the park is the Lassen Peak Smelowskia, which performs on and around Lassen Peak, and exists nowhere else in the world. This plant usually blooms in July and August. A performance by these elegant little flowers is subtle, but the impression is lasting. - Peak Experiences: The offical newspaper of Lassen Volcanic National Park, May-November 2008
