it's simply gorgeous and I hope to visit Maramures area for longer soon to get occassion for admiring these masterpieces of architecture.

Another great one! I especially enjoy these high and narrow, wooden towers, they always contrast to the rest of the building and landscape so much, that's incredible for someone who sees that for the first time!

Exactly, the spires and roofs like the walls of Vysoka:) But Eric has shot a few others of the same style/area - you can pick one more pic to let them rise higher in the album:)

Tomek, I can only encourage you to visit this area. It is simply incredible. The customs and traditions are slightly different than PL of course, but I had the weird feeling to be in Podhale 50 years ago !

Thanks Eric, I will surely go there rather sooner than later. I was hitchhiking through Maramures while evacuating myself from Rodnei and Carpathians in hellish, flood conditions, man what an adventure it was! Lucky me, after 2 days of crossing the mountains I got to Lwow...

I knew what to expect in Maramures, I saw THEM out of the window, now I want to touch them :)
