This plant really fits in on Stevens BM peak area. A reminder that hikers should carry plenty of water.

By plenty? I mean, normally in an area this dry - how much water do you carry in the pack?

A fair question. When it hits the summer temps, the dry air as well as the heat can
suck a lot of water out of your body. I always carry twice as much water as I would elsewhere. A 5 mile hike might require 2 to 3 liters of water.

Thanks! I've just sort of begun sweating while thinking of that kind of hike I've probably tasted just once in my life near the Bulgarian-Greek border:)

In Arid-zona, 4 liters would be a good figure
this time of year. As long as you don't trip
over any rattlesnakes and land on cactus, you
can consider yourself a fortunate soul!
