The underlying geology on this one seems a little unlikely.

I'm just wondering what's producing the underlying pattern of "harder" (uneroded) rock as opposed to what's been eroded, along with whatever wind patterns might produce a given shape. This formation is oddly complex.

Right on!! The rock formations in that entire area are pretty amazing, wish I knew enough about geology to expound on it, but I don't have a clue. They are beautiful though. I'll have to look into the geology of the area and see what I find. Thanks for checking out my pictures though!!
