Steamboat Annie? [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Steamboat Annie?
Nope, not Steamboat Annie. This is Steamboat Rock, seen from the WILSON Mountain trail east of Wilson Canyon.

A dust storm instigated by high winds the previous day seemed to bring out
the colors in the rocks.

I just found out the "slanted skyline" rock formation to the
right is called The Accropolis. Steamboat Rock is the "red" spire on the far left.

I don't know. I need to go back to take a look;
as there SHOULD be one hiding on the other side.

"We're getting older; the world's getting colder,
For the life of me, I don't know the reason why.
Hearts rolling in, taken back on the tide.
We're balanced together, ocean upon the sky."

DeanRed paint on sale again?

Voted 10/10

Doggone it Larry, they had another sale on red paint at the Home Depot and you bought them out. I gotta give you a ten for your stubborn determination to paint a whole area and it gets expensive. Nice picture.

Thanks, Dean. : ))

Actually, there was a horrific dust storm the
previous day, sparked by incredible winds.

I was searching for a KITE to fly, but I couldn't find one with a butterfly painted on it. Maybe next time ...

REST of the story:
After somebody told me to "go fly a kite,"
I searched (again) at the department store
for a kite with a butterfly design on it.
All I found was a "skull & crossbones" design, and decided that wasn't my cup of tea.

: )))))

The sky is the water.

Your assignment is to examine the lyrics of
Ann & Nancy Wilson's "Dog & Butterfly" rock
classic hit of 1978.

"We're balanced together, ocean upon the sky"

On this windy and arid day, water could still
be found in Oak Creek Canyon to the south.

Also, there's a Dairy Queen right up the road from where this trail begins near Midgley Bridge along Highway 89A.

Yeah, you folks probably know that song better
than I do.

Musicland? Is that right next to McDonalds?

Have a fantastic day, Kathy!
(I'll be working on getting some "water pics"
posted...)

only climbers and scramblers call it Accropolis. The formation has been known locally here as the Sail for over 50 years.

FYI - There's also a limestone formation
located in the the country of Slovenia known
as "The Sail."

It's a lot more white than it is red.
