Voted 10/10 | It was in Spanish and translates to--
"I don't know how you had access to Popocatepetl in the year 2002, because actually you can't climb this mountain; in the past couple of years it has been on yellow alert due to the large amount of activity."
I'm assuming that this picture was taken before 2002, at a time during which Popo was accessible.
busque--Pienso que Bernhard fue a Popo antes de que se habia puesto en alerta amarillo. | | Posted May 25, 2005 5:22 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the translation! Indeed, the photo was taken at christmas time 1986 (and submitted to SP in 2002) and I went up just myself carrying a paraglider with me. Unfortunately and due to stormy winds I had to hike back. Luckily enough I climbed the next night Izthaciuhatl and did the very first paragliding flight just by myself. Both was a wonderful experience. Some days later I hiked up to Pico Orizaba as well but is was to windy again to fly. However I made it to the top of all three peaks within a week and all alone. Great memories and looong time ago. Bernhard | | Posted May 26, 2005 11:47 am |
