Royal Gorge - Colorado [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Royal Gorge - Colorado
Royal Gorge at one of its narrowest points

Notice the railroad tracks on the right. Trains roaring by while we were rafting would drown out our guide's commands.

The river is flowing from the top to the bottom of this picture.

Picture taken from the Royal Gorge Tram the day after we rafted through here.

It must of took somebody a long time to
construct that railway through there.

Boy, is that a hole or whirlpool near the
center? I'd hate to get sucked into that one! !! (You must have had an awesome guide.) Fantastic photo, Kathy.

I won't go into detail here but two companies fought and independently built tracks more than 127 years ago. Here's a link to more Gorge railroad history.

I can't tell from this picture where any holes are but I do know our guide was wonderful; they all were! And thanks for the compliment. Look for more gorge pictures soon.
