My First Time in the Mountains [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
My First Time in the Mountains
My love for the mountains began when I was 14. Our family took a 2-week trip with a pop-up trailer to Colorado, including about a week in RMNP. From left to right, my brother, me, my other brother and my step-father. I don't know exactly where this picture was taken. Some fellow SPers have convinced me that it's somewhere along Hwy 69 between Bradford and Westcliffe. Those are the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the background.

My first glimpse of the Rockies was in '66 in a pop-up camper also with my family. We spent six weeks out west and stayed inside the park at a now closed campground. Oh, what memories!

I'll have to see if I can find any pictures.

Thanks for your vote, Kathy. Great memories indeed. For me, it's one of the best gifts my parents gave to me.

I remember my times going through the western US during the late 70's in an RV. I will never forget views like that. Thanks for sharing that. Cheers

Thanks for your vote. That trip left a big impression on me. I hadn't seen this photo until a couple of years ago. It was on my brother's fireplace mantle. Brought back lots of great memories when I saw it.

Nothing is more valuable than photos that take you back to when the greatest things in life begin. Being close to nature is definitely one of those things.
Thanks for sharing Mike,

Hi Marc. Thanks for your vote. Photos like this are very valuable. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of not taking photos. I was stationed in Germany for two years when I was in the Army and didn't take a single photo. Duh. Lucky for me, my wife loves to take photos!

Hey I love the striped tube socks and Houston Astros style shirt. Groovy.

Those were the days, huh. I like the picture of your giant tent. Don't make 'em like that anymore.
