Hunter from our campsite at sunset. Looks like it would be more direct to just head up through this area and catch the ridge to the summit instead of going the longer normal trail but who knows.

They always do. Have you gone this route before? What I thought looked really neat were those pinnacles/palisades just below the summit. Looked neat to check out.

I never have done it that way but I know the Guadalupes. Pictures don't show how much of a bushwack it is. Cactus, lechugilla, agave, gray brushes, etc... Plus a lot of rough limestone.

Yep, I can imagine after doing the nice "quick" scramble out to El Capitan. Thought that would take me like half an hour, more like 3 times that! Got nailed in the leg by a prickly pear spine there.
