Geology Along the Trail [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Geology Along the Trail
The geology along the trail north of Peak 8,587 makes the trip worth it. The ridge to the north of the mountain is mostly dark basalt, while the mountain is white granodiorite. The two masses meet approximately where the flat ridge falls off into the deeply incised basins on the mountain's north side. Its like two different worlds mashed together. August 2008
