The Divide North of Peak 8,587 [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The Divide North of Peak 8,587
Looking north from the summit of Peak 8,587 the change between the basalt and the granodiorite is clearly seen. The trail climbs out of the basin to the right and continues more or less along the color change behind the small white mounds. Near the top the trail abruptly turns north before crossing to the other side near the broad low spot at left-center. To climb this mountain leave the trail anywhere in the vicinity of the white mounds, cross the bowl and go straight up the north slope below the high point. The large basin in the upper left is the Minam. August 2008
