Are those the Monti Sibillini in the Marche region ? I once did a geological work in the Monte San Vicino area and on clear days I always admired those Monti Sibillini but I never had the time to explore or climb them.

Yes they are in the Marche region and a bit of Umbria, the highest summit is Monte Vettore, very nice region for excursions and ski-touring (little info on SP regarding this region yet).

I love it when the mountain, which has enveloped you for so long, suddenly gives that special moment that releases you into the open heights. I had many in the Apennines too.
