How often do you hear sonic booms down in Nevada? I remember hearing them all the time in the 80's in oregon, havent heard one in 20 years now at least.

If you know when Red Flag events are going on, you can see all kinds of Air Craft when out hiking in the peaks straight North of Vegas (Nellis AFB), because it is in the filght path up to where they have their dog fights.

Gass Peak would be one of the greatest places to see this. Even on most weekdays you could get buzzed by F-16s and F-15s and maybe the Thunderbirds from Nellis.
