North Thunder Mountain. [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
North Thunder Mountain.
Taken from the north ridge, looking south. After eyeballing this peak for years, it's only yards away. Many consider North Thunder Mountain to be the hardest peak to access and climb in the Wasatch Mountain Range. I climbed this one for Jim, my hero. The solo climb up will be one of the most memorable for years to come. May 7th, 2009.

I am always amazed at how much snow is up there...its amazing! On San Gorgonio (11,500ft), all the snow is almost melted. No fair!

We got a few solid storms at the higher altitudes over the last month, conditions are primo right now for some consolidated climbs. It's really to hard to be on the move working throughout the week, I keep looking up at the Wasatch wishing I was up there with an axe and some crampons. When I was up there Thursday temps in the valley were 70 degrees, however at the summit was around 38, with 10-15 mph winds. Quite a contrast for sure.

Thanks! I agree, it is one of my favorites in the Wasatch. Not too many people get up there to enjoy it enough.
