You have led an intersting life. I hope you never run out of these spectacular photos. But if you do, please write us a trip report or two. What is the red in their ear? Are they tagged?

Yes, they are tagged. The Vicuñas are protected successfully after almost being extinct in the 60ies. In Peru, in the so called Gran Chaccu, once a year, the Vicuñas are caught, sheared and released to the wild again. This ancient tradition dating back to the Incas has been revived and helps protect the Vicuñas, because they are an important economic factor for the indigenous people.
