Overnight on Lone Peak, 1993. [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Overnight on Lone Peak, 1993.
My cousin Dave and I took full packs to the small summit block on Lone Peak and decided to stay the night there. There is not much real estate on Lone's Summit, perhaps 10' by 12' at most. The drop off to the right of the picture is about 900 feet, and another significant drop off on the left. We made sure not to roll over in our sleep that night. Notice the summit marker in the lower left of the photo. Old scanned photo. August, 1993.

I agree. When I was up there last week I remembered how small of an area the summit block really is. The only flat spot in most of the area, so it worked out perfect.

What a place to wake up! I'm not sure I could sleep there, might fall off ;-)

Thank you. We were able to sleep for about 4 hours that night, I'm not sure if it was the altitude or knowing of the exposure in that location that kept us up for the majority of the night. Seeing the Wasatch Front down below at night was really cool!
