Artists' Paintpots - Close Up View
Artists' Paintpots - Yellowstone NP

A close up view of two colorful springs in this area. Notice that the breeze is rippling across the water. Artists' Paintpots is an area of colorful geysers and hot mud springs located along a loop trail east of the park’s Grand Loop road, about two and a half miles south of Norris Junction.

The Paintpots are simply the colorful versions of mudpots. Their color usually comes from the presence of mineral salts.

because I need to eat more carrots.

This photo made me think of carrots. Does that
"rust" color originate from iron oxide ???

Geez, there I go thinking of food again !!!

I doubt that! You read lyrics at least, right? The rust color more than likely is from iron oxide which is also what is causing the rocks in the canyons to rust.

Actually, when I look back at some of these pictures their colors remind me of the range of colors in your desert pictures.

Enjoy your Sunday! And eat some carrots....
