This saddle on the west flank of Rocky Mountain is a viable alternate to the northwest ridge. One way to reach it would be to travel the northwest ridge until you are at about the same elevation as the saddle and then traverse across the steep scree slopes-- not fun, if you ask me. The west flank will then take you to the top, and it is gentler than the northwest ridge. You could also use the saddle as an approach to Point 8752 and what surely would be a spectacular and seldom-seen view of Rocky Mountain's west face.

The easiest way to reach the saddle is to descend the trail from Headquarters Creek Pass to a spot beneath the saddle where slopes with a bit of vegetation (and thus better footing) are reached and then climb up to it. This information comes from Fred Spicker.
