Summit mushroom [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Summit mushroom
A climbing party scales the last meters of 6354m high Chopicalqui. The crux of the whole route, an exposed crevasse, can be seen on the right skyline.

photograph like this to come along, and blow
my red sandstone towers all to hell.

Seems like that crevasse could become hidden
very easily, and I'm glad you folks were
aware of it. Outstanding pic!!!

The crevasse is very well known, since it is so close to the summit. Every year, the big question is whether people will have to do overhanging ice climbing 6300m high or not :)

Thanks! Not that I'm contemplating an Andes
trip in the near future, but the "Chopicalqui
page" seems to be lacking some valuable information.

Hey, who am I to judge! I'm just a 'dreamer'
living in Arizona soaking up some rays.

Complements on your Chopicalqui picture !!!

Yes, the whole Cordillera Blanca pages are quite lacking, maybe I should do something about it when I have some time.
And I would kill to get some of your Arizona sandstone in Denmark!

Man that is a superb shot. I was in the Blanca around the same time as you. Was supposed to Chopicalqui and Pisco. I got a bad cold and a stomach bug. Did the Santa Cruz trek and Pisco (June 14), but no Chopi.
