The grassy mountain in the center of the photo is the southwest side of Garnet Mountain. Photo taken from Jumbo Mountain in May 2004. The Crazy Mountains are on the Horizon. This is the side I walked up from the Pioneer Lakes which are just out of the picture to the right of the frame.

Those can't be the Crazy Mountains in the background! If that is the SW side of Garnet then those are the Absorakas, which are across the Yellowstone river valley from the Gallatins. The Crazy Mountains are further east and north, and cannot be seen from Garnet.

I respectfully disagree. If these are the Absaroka Mtns on the horizon then where is the devil's backbone?

This photo was from Jumbo Mtn - SSW of Garnet Mountain. The Crazies are in a line NE of Garnet Mtn.
