I believe this is the point where if you want to avoid the "steep walled gap " exposure near the summit that Edwards talks about you go on either side of this pillar (but mainly right up either side-we went up one side and came down the other) rather than follow the trail in the lower left where you can have more exposure. Please correct me if I am wrong.
