Exploring the Dater glacier on the north side of Vinson Massif.

This Australian expedition in 2008-9 was the first to venture into the glacier, making 3 "first ascents" and a new route on Vinson.

Our new route up Vinson - "ANZAC ridge", is at the top left of picture, Vinson itself is hidden behind the mist at extreme top left.

We started the day from "Fortress" camp in 30 degree heat, we finished the day at our advanced base camp at the foot of ANZAC ridge with the temperature at -27 dgrees, roughly a 60 degree swing in 10 hours!
