Grizzly Peak, San Juan Mountains [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Grizzly Peak, San Juan Mountains
At 13,738, Grizzly Peak is one of the San Juan range's higher 13ers, and one of the most beautiful as well. This is the closest I've ever been to the mountain, and I hope to climb it some day. Of the many Grizzly Peaks in Colorado, this is perhaps the most appealing one. On this day, angry weather from the west moved in early over the San Juans. Thunder was rumbling by 9:30 in the morning, but it made for some dramatic photos like this one, which also feature an region not covered on SummitPost...until now.

woodsxcDid someone say Mount Doom?

Voted 10/10

Seriously, that looks like Mount Doom from the Lord of the Rings (Mt. Ngauruhoe in NZ). Awesome shot!

You're right! Complete with dreadful dark clouds. Nice catch! Thanks for stopping by.
