Voted 10/10 | To me, again, are you absolutely positive you didn't shoot this in Poronin? LOL | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 7:38 am |

Voted 10/10 | I see:D BTW Can "Vielle Aure" be translated into English? | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 8:29 am |
 | | visentin | Re: Looks Familiar | |
Hasn't voted | None of the two words. Aure is the name of the valley. Contrary to what most of the people think, Vielle is not "vieille" ("old"). There are many villages called "Vielle" in the french Pyrenees, as well as "Vielha" or even "Bielsa" in Spain, which mean "village". We call it Vielle-Aure to differenciate it from the others in other valleys | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 8:44 am |

Voted 10/10 | Can you bivouac up there on the slopes around the village? On the parent page there's a pic of a designated camping area: ?
And, as for the word "aure" - do locals not link it to "gold" or "wind/breeze" (likely Latin connection)? | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 8:59 am |

Hasn't voted | Just around the village, no, but far enough from any inhabitation, without any problem as long as you "bivouac" and not "camp".
Those mentionned in the Lustou page are in the Rioumajou Valley (I posted pics of this magnficent valley), where, due to its reputation of excellent trailhead, too many people rather camp than bivouac, hence controlled... I was there 2 weeks ago, it's a real tragedy, wild barbecues here and there, camping-cars, and so on.. high time they manage it like the TANAP ! ;) | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 9:14 am |

Voted 10/10 | No no no more TANAPS!!! It'll be enough to enforce the law that already exists - you say "camping" is forbidden, isn't it? | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 9:26 am |

Hasn't voted | I'd enforce the winter closure till June 15th and the offtrails rules. But I'd keep Chocholowska and Koscieliska for pedestrians only !
Camping => tent all day
Bivouac => tent from dusk till dawn, nothing the rest of the time | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 9:41 am |

Voted 10/10 | Why winter out??? | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 9:58 am |

Hasn't voted | you mean why I'd enforce TANAP's winter closure ? Because I think June 15th could be reduced to May 15th in most places...
Talking Pyrenees, there is no such closure... | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 10:39 am |

Voted 10/10 | No closure, no prohibition (no trace left either) - that's what I want :) | | Posted Aug 31, 2009 1:30 pm |

Hasn't voted | however, would you let cars drive up into the end of the valleys and people camp permanently in the heart of beautiful places ? | | Posted Sep 1, 2009 2:22 am |

Voted 10/10 | No way. | | Posted Sep 1, 2009 3:17 pm |
