Lower and upper Cerovacke Pecine caves are most beautiful on Velebit. They are located in the belly of Crnopac (1404m), highest peak of SE Velebit. This shot was taken at the entrance into the Lower Cerovacka Pecina cave, which is in winter decorated with ice stalagmites.

Hasn't voted | Thanks Nelson! Yes, like ice-man, and there is lot of small ones on the floor which are not well visible here, they remind me of Dickman's sweets. I don't know if you know those, chocolate domes filled with white cream, same shape like these ice replicas :-) | | Posted Jun 4, 2004 10:39 am |

| Edie Howe | Stunning image! | | Hasn't voted | What an incredible photo! those stalagmites seem to be lit from within, almost glowing.
What lighting was there, and what sort of camera did you use?
Thank you so much for sharing! | | Posted Mar 30, 2005 10:21 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you Edie! It was combination of artificial light from head lamp which was put on the floor and directed to the ceiling of the cave tunnel and natural light which is coming from right where is narrow entrance. Combination with natural light only also looks great; background is black with only shining blue ice stalagmites, but I posted this one because of more color and it shows more of environment. I use Olympus C8080, 8mp digital camera.
Cheers,
